and Iraq. The land between this river and the Tigris was known as Birît
Nârim, "between the rivers" (Greek: Mesopotamia), the
country west of it as 'Abar nãhâra, "beyond the river"
(Greek: Syria). The magnificent city of Babylon
was situated on the banks of the Euphrates. |
