| Vaumisa: Persian general, commanded one of the two armies that
Darius sent against an unknown Armenian
rebel. (The other army was commanded by Dâdarshish.)
He defeated his enemies at Izatâ, close to Mardin in modern
Turkey, on December 31, 522 and continued to Autiyâra, where he won
his second victory on June 11. Nine days later, the other army won its
third victory, which meant the end of this rebellion. |
