| Intaphernes (Old Persian Vindafranâ): Persian courtier
and general, son of Vayaspâra. One of the seven conspirators who
killed the Magian Gaumâta
and helped Darius become king. Suppressed the
second Babylonian revolt against Darius, which
was lead by Arakha, in December 522. He is represented
on the Behistun
inscription as Darius' bow carrier; according to the Greek researcher
Herodotus,
he was later executed by his king. |
